Gilbert L. Hoffer, Ph.D.
Dr. Hoffer focuses on the appropriate selection, effective development, and successful integration of talent in our client organizations. His expertise and experience cover every functional area from entry level professional positions to the boardroom.
He is a highly skilled, action oriented executive coach, who frequently includes the use of 360 feedback. He aslo advises a wide range of leaders on matters of individual and team effectiveness where emotional intelligence, psychological insight and an understanding of organizational needs and development processes can make a difference. He has coached senior executives, high potential managers, counseled those in difficulty and provided transition assistance to those considering career alternatives.
Dr. Hoffer has extensive experience in determining the major competency requirements for positions, developing the interviewing and testing approaches for evaluating candidates, and designing performance evaluation tools for assessing the development of incumbents. He has conducted in-depth assessments of employment and promotion candidates for executive, management, and professional positions. In addition, he also designs and facilitates leadership team development conferences and has conducted employee research using surveys and focus groups.
Prior to establishing PsyCor, Inc., he was a Staff Psychologist for the Industrial Services Division of The Psychological Corporation, an Officer in the United States Air Force, and a Research Consultant to the Army Research Institute.
Dr. Hoffer earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University, his MA from Bucknell University and his BA from Wheaton College. He is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania, a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He is an adjunct faculty member of LaSalle University, where he teaches Psychological Assessment in Organizational Settings as part of the their graduate program in psychology. He has also helped create several businesses and has served on a number of boards.
Katherine L. Bittner, Ph.D.
Dr. Bittner has over fifteen years of internal and external consulting experience in telecommunications, utility, manufacturing, and food service environments. She is experienced in individual and team assessment; executive leadership planning and development, management coaching and development; design, implementation and evaluation of performance management and development, including multilevel feedback; selection, testing and validation, and statistical research and analysis. She has also served as an assessor and developer of assessment exercises, trainer of assessors and a major benchmarking research study on organizational climate and leadership. She is experienced in group problem solving techniques and facilitation skills.
She has worked as an internal consultant for several organizations. For the Human Resources Department in Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. she designed a research study measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of an updated performance management system and continues to perform the data analysis for the upward feedback team surveys used in a Leadership Through Teamwork process. For Philadelphia Electric Company she designed a performance management process for management and technical populations and contributed to the research and development of AT&T assessment centers. Prior to joining PsyCor, Inc., Dr. Bittner was a Principal of Organizational Development Consulting (ODC) a Human Resources/Organizational Performance Consulting Group. Following six years with PsyCor, Inc. Dr. Bittner became a principal and Vice President of Human Resources Consulting and Research, Inc.
Dr. Bittner holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University, an MA in Industrial Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a BA in Psychology from Bucknell University. She is has been an adjunct faculty member of Kutztown University, Muhlenberg College, Moravian College and Lehigh County Community College, where she taught Industrial Psychology, Job Motivation, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Theory, and General Psychology. She is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the American Psychological Society.
Jeffrey P. McClafferty, Ph.D.
Since 1985, Dr. McClafferty has worked with organizations to improve their business results. His work focuses on the identification, development and utilization of human potential for achieving increased individual, team, and business unit effectiveness.
He has worked in a range of organizations from Fortune 100 to small non-profit, with senior managers, exempt, and non-exempt employees, and in a variety of business sectors -- aluminum, computer, consumer product, pharmaceutical, steel, telecommunication, social service, and utilities.
His areas of expertise in Human Resources include: HR Systems Planning, Job Design and Analysis, Job Competency Modeling, Recruitment, Selection, Performance Management, Organizational Assessment and Development, Attitude Survey Design and Evaluation, Individual Counseling and Assessment, Program Evaluation, and Vocational/Career Counseling.
Dr. McClafferty earned a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Penn State University, an MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a BA in Psychology from Penn State University. He is a member of the American Psychological Society, American Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He is also the founder and President of Human Resources Consulting and Research, Inc.
Scott J. Salvatore, Psy.D.
Dr. Salvatore has over 10 years of business and organizational psychology experience. He combines experience in executive assessment with leadership team experience in investment and high technology. Scott brings psychological insight to bear on human resource issues and business strategy.
Prior to becoming a PsyCor Associate, Scott was the Vice President, Team Building and Business Development, at Q Ventures Technology Incubator, which was created by Q Funding, a $4 billion private investment and venture capital firm. As the director of talent assessment for incubator portfolio companies, Scott conducted candidate assessments, critiqued entrepreneurial skill sets for selection and coached senior management on issues related to optimal team functioning. He also provided management with observational and behavioral insights regarding the cultivation of strategic relations with the investment technology and legal community.
Scott also co-founded and developed, in partnership with Accenture, IBM, KPMG and the Hughes & Luce Law Firm, a seminar series for Dallas based entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies.
Before joining the technology incubator, Scott worked at an executive search firm conducting candidate and organizational fit assessments. His clients included Southwest Airlines, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, and Zale Corp.
Scott began his career as a U.S. Naval Officer and clinical psychologist at the U.S. Naval Medical Center, San Diego, where he conducted hundreds of mental and emotional fitness assessments for officer and enlisted personnel. He also consulted to commanding officers on morale and productivity in high performing, specialized units. He earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and was selected to attend a post-doctorate fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He is also a Staff Psychologist at the Fort Dix Federal Prison.
Dr. Salvatore, a licensed psychologist, earned his Doctor of Psychology degree from the Illinois School of Psychology and his BS from Rider University and currently attends the University of Pennsylvania for a Masters in Organizational Dynamics. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and APA's Consulting Psychology Division. He also served as a member of the Human Resources and Entrepreneurial committees of the Technology Business Council in Dallas.
Ronald W. Stoffey, Ph.D.
Dr. Stoffey has over 15 years of internal and external consulting experience in telecommunications, utility, manufacturing, food services, and financial environments. A licensed psychologist, Dr. Stoffeys work has encompassed management assessment and development, personnel selection, performance management, team assessment and development, leadership training, survey feedback, and organizational and statistical research.
As a human resources manager for Richardson-Vicks, U.S.A., a Proctor & Gamble Company, Dr. Stoffey directed and administered programs in professional, technical and support staff recruitment; compensation and benefits; organization development; training; and AA/EEO. He also worked as a personnel research analyst for the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission. As an external consultant he conducted organizational research, test development and validation, assessment center development and assessor training, and designed performance management systems. Prior to joining PsyCor, Inc., Dr. Stoffey was a Principal of Organizational Development Consulting (ODC) a Human Resources/Organizational Performance Consulting Group.
Dr. Stoffey received his Ph.D. and MS in industrial/organizational psychology from Stevens Institute of Technology and BA in Psychology from Kutztown University. He is a Professor of Psychology at Kutztown University and an adjunct professor in Management in the Allentown College of Saint Francis de Sales MBA program. Dr. Stoffey was also an honorary visiting professor at the Guangxi Economic Management College, P.R. China. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Dr. Stoffeys research has been published in recognized professional journals, including Personnel Psychology and Journal of Business and Psychology. He also publishes in the Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal. He teaches Industrial/Organization Psychology, Organizational Development, Leadership and Work Motivation, Applied Statistics and has made numerous presentations to professional associations.
Janis C. von Culin, MA
Janis von Culin is a respected consultant to senior management in the areas of organizational effectiveness and human resource strategies. With more than twenty years experience in industry and human services, Ms. von Culin combines the knowledge of a hands-on human resources professional with that of a senior level business executive.
Ms. von Culin addresses the need of executives for periodic access to high-level, practical human resources expertise and effective organizational consulting. She helps business leaders navigate through tough people challenges, such as successfully implementing organizational change, improving the performance of senior management teams, and making an acquisition work. She is often called in to trouble-shoot or develop cost-effective alternatives to current programs, and to serve as a strategic resource for internal HR staff.
After beginning her professional career as a mental health and career counselor Ms. von Culin joined Avery Dennison, a Fortune 500 producer of office products and label systems. She ultimately became a Group Director of Human Resources, responsible for nine divisions operating in North America and Asia. She began Von Culin Associates, her highly regarded consulting practice, in the mid 1990s.
Ms. von Culin earned her MA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles and her BA in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. She is also an active member of the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group, the Institute of Management Consultants and the Delaware Valley Human Resources Consultants Group.
